Toby
STATUS: ADOPTED
Chihuahua Mix
Neutered Male
Age: 10 years old
Size: Small
Special Needs: Yes

Toby was rescued from a shelter when he was about 3 years old and adopted by a disabled woman who lived on her own.  He was her best friend and constant companion until she passed.  Now he’s looking for a new home where he can find love, sunny spots to snooze in and someone he can spend all his time caring for.
Toby is 9 or 10 at this point and a little overweight at 16 pounds.  He has a heart murmur and congestive heart failure, which are being managed through medication.  He lives life in the slow lane:  he enjoys ambles and sniffs outside and occasionally takes a jog around the house, but mostly sleeps, preferably in a sunny location.  He is housetrained and sleeps through the night, hopefully as close to “his person” as possible.  When you first meet him he is cautious and shy, but he warms up quickly and soon will be putting his paw on your hand so you keeping patting him and rubbing his belly.  He gets along with both dogs and cats, but he would mostly like to be with people.  He is very quiet and doesn’t even bark when the other dogs start up.  He follows his person everywhere!  He would do best in a quiet household with owners who are home most of the time.

APPLY TO ADOPT
Interested in adopting one of our senior dogs?

It's easy! First, make note of the dog's name and then move on to the
online adoption application.

After your application is approved, we will coordinate a time for a meet and greet with you and the senior dog you are applying to adopt.

If you (and your family) and the dog are a good match for each other, a home visit is then scheduled and completed.

After a home visit is complete, the adoption can be finalized and a new happy tail can be told!
