How to Adopt

Thank you for considering adopting a dog from Tails of Gray. So many senior dogs are in need of loving homes, and you’ve come to the right place.

Adoption is a big commitment. Rescued dogs have gone through many transitions, moving from an original home to a shelter, to a foster home, to another new home with you, the adopter. That’s why we hope that the adoptions we make will last forever. For this reason, we consider the adoption process at Tails of Gray like “matchmaking.” We’re committed to finding our senior dogs the types of home they need, and finding adopters a senior dog that meets their needs.

We support animals that we have rescued for their entire lives, so in the event that an adoption does not work out, we always welcome them back and require that they be returned to Tails of Gray.

DOG ADOPTION PROCESS
To adopt a dog from Tails of Gray, you must:

  1. Complete an online application for adoption. Your form will be reviewed by one of our adoption coordinators. We will respond to your adoption application within 72 hours. PLEASE NOTE: All form fields are required. If you have not completed all fields, your form will not be sent.
  2. Meet your prospective pet. If your application to adopt is approved, our adoption coordinators will schedule a meet and greet with you and the senior dog you are applying to adopt.
  3. Complete a home visit. If you (and your family) and the dog are a good match for each other, a home visit is then scheduled and completed.
  4. Finalize the adoption. After a home visit is complete, the adoption can be finalized and a new happy tail can be told!
