Tippy is a playful and affectionate 16 year old shih tsu mix who is ready to meet his new forever parent(s).
He was a constant companion to his mom and served as her seizure alert dog for many of their years together. They were living together in an assisted living facility but, as her health worsened, she wasn’t able to take care of him the way she used to. Tippy was welcomed with open arms into his loving foster home and he is adjusting to the change.
Tippy is a healthy, active and playful for his age. Other than maybe needing a small adjustment period in his new home, he is considered house trained.
While tolerant of other dogs, he can be a little dominant and tends to be possessive of his people and toys. We think that he will be happiest as an only dog. He gets along well with cats.
A perfect home with him would be one with an experienced adult family where someone is home for much of the day. He’ll benefit from continued training in a few areas, as he’s been pretty spoiled, allowed to take a mile when given an inch! This includes learning a better meal routine than he’s used to and his leash manners could use some improvement. He won't make a great apartment dog, as he tends to finds his voice if left home alone, as that’s not something that he is used to yet.
Tippy has been loved and well cared. He will be a wonderful, dedicated companion and he’s looking forward to sharing his love with his new family.

After your application is approved, we will coordinate a time for a meet and greet with you and the senior dog you are applying to adopt.
If you (and your family) and the dog are a good match for each other, a home visit is then scheduled and completed.
After a home visit is complete, the adoption can be finalized and a new happy tail can be told!
