Archie was surrendered to the shelter due to an incident involving food and the toddler in the home. We heard about him and felt that this sugar pie is a good boy who was just not in the right situation.

What we have learned about him is that he enjoys his walks and is building up from two blocks to a good 1/2 hour walk. He pulls (sometimes hard) toward squirrels and cats and tends to growl a little at mostly larger dogs.

In the home, he gets along with other dogs and we know that he lived with dogs in the past. He will need a home without cats, due to the chase tendency. We are looking for an adult home for our boy, as he may be protective of his food and can be a little grumpy when being moved (we are working on arthritis meds to help him out).

The beagle in him helps create a particular and stubborn old boy and he won't always go out to the backyard on his own. Sometimes he needs a little gentle reminding!

He's a little over 30 lbs and 10 years old.

Archie is very loving and when you pet him he leans in for more affection. He loves his belly rubs and massages. He has been okay on his dog bed at night, also enjoys sleeping on the human bed (and sleeps through the night). He will be a wonderful, loyal companion and we are looking forward to seeing our Archie boy off to his forever home!!

APPLY TO ADOPT
Interested in adopting one of our senior dogs?

It's easy! First, make note of the dog's name and then move on to the
online adoption application.

After your application is approved, we will coordinate a time for a meet and greet with you and the senior dog you are applying to adopt.

If you (and your family) and the dog are a good match for each other, a home visit is then scheduled and completed.

After a home visit is complete, the adoption can be finalized and a new happy tail can be told!
